Saranza Red Fortress-سرخ قلعۀ سرانزا

An Ismaili fortress. Unlike most of the Ismaili fortresses that are hard to reach; this one is on low grounds in the valley and next to the main road.

Saranza is about 15km south of town of Firuz Kooh on Semnan road (about 150km east of Tehran) and it is not that far from Firuz Kooh fortress. It is probably a supply base to serve Firuz Kooh fortress which overlooks 3 valleys and other fortresses in the area.

Saranza is red. I think it is because of high Copper concentration in the soil.

This hole in the ground leads to a corridor or a room. Probably for storing food.
